On Oct. 9 Axis Communications held a grand reopening of its Axis Experience Center (AEC) in Chicago, which was expanded and revamped to focus on solutions that go beyond just network video to also include network access control and network audio systems, and how they all integrate with products from Axis’ technology partners. Highlights of the AEC are the new Solutions Lab where visitors can get hands on with technologies from Axis and its partners and the new Security Operations Center that emulates the platform used by the city of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management, which monitors more than 30,000 cameras.

At Connect 2018, held November 15-17 in Marco Island, Fla., awards were presented to a variety of security dealer companies and individuals both during the general sessions and at the Honors Banquet, held on the last night. The following is a recap in pictures of the awards:
Anixter, a global security distributor, recently hosted a Media Day at its headquarters in Glenview, Ill. Focusing on who Anixter is, especially since the recent acquisition of Tri-Ed, and what they do, Media Day gave visitors a clear picture of the company and its capabilities in general. Security journalists from around the world, including SDM’s Editor, Laura Stepanek, were guests of Hikvision at its world headquarters in Hangzhou, China, in October 2015. The tour included a visit of the company’s headquarters and factory, as well as the 2015 China Public Security Expo, and many cultural and historic sites throughout the country.
Axis Communications, headquartered in Chelmsford, Mass., hosted a grand opening/ribbon-cutting party at their brand new Irvine, Calif. location on Tuesday, September 29. This location is part of an ongoing effort to offer “Axis Experience Centers” (AEC) in strategic locations throughout North America. These showplace facilities feature technology centers for a variety of verticals, allowing potential partners and customers to see the solution in action. Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, North America, Bill Wentlandt, business area manager for the U.S., West, and Martin Gren, Axis co-founder and director of the board, led media, partners and customers on a tour around the facility.
